Thank You Class E.
Dear Friends,
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone for their support during this challenging time.
It has been two weeks since the incident on board MV DiveRACE Class E. DiveRACE assisted our affected guests to the best of our abilities, ensuring that they returned home safely or continued with their planned itineraries. Our office also worked tirelessly to update all affected future bookings and make alternative arrangements. We stand by our philosophy of being reliable, especially during such adverse circumstances.
We are deeply saddened that MV DiveRACE Class E experienced a fire that early morning. Unfortunately, weather conditions—with strong winds and waves—made it difficult to extinguish the blaze. She succumbed to the fire and sank after eight hours of burning. As such, we regret to announce that MV DiveRACE Class E will be out of commission.
This is an immense loss for the DiveRACE family and for the many guests who sailed with us over the past decade. We’ve been moved by the memories and kind words shared by so many of you—testament to the legacy of an extraordinary vessel that brought people together in the beauty of the Similan Islands.
However, this is not the end of DiveRACE. We are committed to moving forward and becoming an even better version of ourselves. Our focus now shifts to our upcoming vessel, MV DiveRACE Class X—ready in December 2025—and to our ongoing coral restoration project in Phuket.
MV DiveRACE Class X is a brand-new liveaboard that will sail the Similan Islands as the successor to Class E. It took us two years to finalise a design that meets a higher standard of comfort, safety, and facilities. She is currently being built in Bangkok, with her maiden voyage scheduled for 29 January 2026. As part of our enhanced safety protocols, the new vessel will include:
- Additional Fire Safety Alarms
- A renewable energy Back Up Power Source
- Dedicated Night Watch Duties
- Pre-departure Safety Drills
Meanwhile, our coral restoration efforts in Phuket continue. We’ll be monitoring and documenting the health and growth of our planted corals in the coming months, with more installations of our Super Stars planned in the near future.
