Overview
Ever wonder what is the history behind the shipwreck and how to explore it properly? The PADI Wreck Diver course teaches students to do their research and dive safely whilst exploring and examining the wreck for more details. Mapping, navigation and buoyancy skills will be largely emphasized. We conduct this course at Igara Wreck which is a huge cargo tanker that sank and sits upright on the seabed.

Common Questions
Why do I need to be an AOWD for this course?
We conduct the wreck diver course at Igara Wreck which has a depth ranging from 14m to 40m. Divers need to be able to dive deeper than 18m to fully explore the wreck.
Is there penetration into the Wreck?
No. We will not bring students to do diving in an overhead environment as that is not part of the course specifications. We will do some swim-throughs which are wide and divers are able to see the exit from the entrance.

DiveRace was a great experience from the accommodation, service and especially the food.The room and bed are quite spacious compare other LOB. It equipped with 5 inch mattress and comes with a comforter plus 2 pillows! They have twin sharing and quad sharing. Twin sharing suit couples as your mattress can be joint as one. Shower gel and shampoo were provided with 2 towels (1 for shower and 1 for diving). Diving towel was coded so you won’t mixed up with others and end up wiping others smell on your face.My trip has 1:4 ration of Dive Master to Diver. Vincent was my DM. He’s one of the best DM I had. Responsible but come with sense of humour. He’s extremely good in spotting marine sea life even down to a shrimp as small as a grain size. He will ensure we get the best dive every dive. He’s funny and knowledgeable. He’s kind of shy and quiet but once you get him talking, he will share lots of knowledge to you.Lastly the food which I didn’t expect it to actually exceeded my expectation and experience. Most LOB will prepare decent food and DiveRace definitely exceed the benchmark. I had different Asian Cruisine on the boat from Tom Yum Gong to Bah Kut Teh to Western Bolognese. We were pampered with delicious food, fresh fruits and importantly they were equipped with automatic espresso machine with fresh coffee beans for your morning caffeine dose.In the end of the trip, the Eric the Boat Manager will have the final debrief by recognising all the boat staff except the boat captain (I wonder where will we end up if the captain also join us) by name. That show how respectful towards the rank and file staff. Well done Eric.I’m extremely satisfied with my trip with DiveRace and I’m looking forward to dive again with them. Hopefully Vincent will still be my next dive DM. Kudos to Vincent and DiveRace.

It was amazing trip, beautiful team: chef, guides, staff who helped divers before and after dives. Good boat, large and clean cabins, 30-32% of Nitrox, hot water in a shower, amazing food (like in the restaurant). I’m impressed. Thank you. And if I go to liveaboard in Thailand , I know the boat and team 🙂 I recommend it.

Excellent liveaboard experience with DiveRACE at Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Richelieu Rock & Boonsung Wreck.The boat condition is modern, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The food is exceptional, possibly the best we've experience of 8 liveaboards. Not only were the flavours great, the menu diverse and the presentation was exquisitely put together by the chefs.The diving was just as great an experience. The dive masters and crew were so attentive and made the the diving super memorable. Dive guide to diver ratio is small which greatly improves the dive experience. Our dive guide, Itt, was just the most lovely guide. Sharing valuable knowledge of marine life and keeping a safe pace on our dives.We couldn't recommend this liveaboard more! Book it!!

Been onboard a couple of times and it's the best LOB experience I have come to enjoy immensely. The diving were fantastic. The DMs are experienced and safety comes above all else. A quality that should never be ovelooked. Professional but also friendly and a joy to be with. The boat crew are always around with a smile and ready to help too!It's a sweet luxury that every cabin comes with an ensuite bathroom. You get to enjoy hot showers with good water pressure after every single dive. Ohh and let me add how comfortable the beds were. Actual bed with proper mattress and pillows.I also appreciate that the crew cleans the private and common areas daily, keeping the cleanliness level up there for the entire trip.One more thing to praise about is the food. You will never go hungry onboard MV DiveRace. All you have to do is sit down and start enjoying the delicious food.Tip: Explore the boat and enjoy the sundeck when you're not diving!All in all, always looking forward to my next trip with DiveRace!!

My first live aboard and it was a fantastic experience. The crew is top notch and Eric + Itt, our dive masters were excellent.Meals were delicious with plated servings (instead of buffet style), huge props to the chef and kitchen crew who worked tirelessly in the heat to give us 4 meals a day (breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner) - every single meal was different for this 5D4N trip.Crew provides a hot towel and sliced fruit after every dive, pre and post dive drink to make sure we stay hydrated. There's some serious pampering here.

Best dive operation I've ever been out with. Great boat, excellent knowledgeable guide and dive manager who is obviously genuinely passionate about his guest's dive experience - amazing diving, particularly at Richilieu Rock and all while dodging the crowds!!! (Thank you so much Eric!) Also a fantastic dive deck crew, always on hand at the right time, just as planned I am sure! :)Above the surface was no different and such an important support to our dive trip! The house team were terrific with Penny, the manager obviously making sure that the small group I was part of was not lost in amongst the larger groups that occupied most of the boat. Great food, great service, friendly, warm and welcoming. There was never a moment we were left wanting something. We were at home and that'd be hard to achieve I think when everyone is tired from 4 dives a day and running such a tight schedule! (thanks Penny and Perī̂yw and the many others!).All the staff were so cheerful and helpful and everything, the boat clean and spacious and just seemed to run like clockwork.I'm sad that this trip is over... Our pick up from the hotel was 2 hours late and on our last dive we got lost and completely missed the dive site!!! So the fact that I’m thinking about going on the same dive again with DiveRace gives you an idea how great the experience was. The boat was spacious and well appointed, the food was fantastic (Lionel you really need to put photos of it on the website) and the staff were wonderful and helpful (Thanks Pannee) The most important thing was of course the diving, which was extremely well organized (thanks Eric, Arm, special guest star Nico and unofficial dive master Dongwon) I’ve dove the Scimilan islands before but this was a completely different experience which truly showed me why it’s one of the best dive sites in the world. Hopefully see you on board when I next do the trip!

We had a great time - we have dived with DiveRace a number of times from Singapore (Tioman Malaysia and Anambas Indonesia) but this was first time in Similan Islands leaving from Phuket area. As ever the whole team were tremendous - Ferri was an excellent Dive Leader, Philippe was fun to dive with and Other divers said Mas was too. I think I put on 3KG from all the wonderful food!!! Viz was not the best but all the plankton meant we saw lots of cool stuff - Deep Sea Manta Rays, Sea Horses, Harlequin Shrimp, Octopus, Nudis huge Barracuda and Andaman Anemone Fish (Red with Black spots - not Orange and white) plus many many shoals of reef fish. Whole experience was perfect from start to end and I would recommend DiveRace to anyone looking for a great live aboard experience.

The Best Liveaboard ive been on taking you to the best dive sights with the best staff from dive guides to boat staff. The food is unreal for being on a boat, feels like Michelin star quality food and there is fantastic variety. The boat is very stable even in rough seas and the beds are very comfortable. Diving in Thailand has always been on my bucket list. Little did I know that going on a live aboard trip with DiveRace for the first time would be setting a hard to top standard in my early diving career. Apart from the magnificent, colorful and stunning dive spots this boat and the crew have surpassed my expectations. The rooms on both the main and lower deck are very well equipped, clean and have their own bathroom. The entire organization starting with a hot towel after each dive, quick refilling of the tanks, the staff helping you at all times, followed by 4 gourmet cuisine dishes a day leaves you without any wishes. I can only highly recommend choosing DiveRace and would go there anytime again. Thank you Lionel and Itt, the entire crew, other guests and the sea gods.

Enjoyed our trip 29 april to 2 may. Did 11 dives . Eric - our Cruise and dive director took care of all the details - all the crew were friendly and all helped out in various tasks to make our LOB memorable. The dive sites were interesting and we had good safe dives. As it was end of the dive season, the visibility was not as good - and gives us a reason to go back to Similan with DiveRACE again … hopefully in Dec 2022

The food was not only beautiful but delicious and generous. Our cabin was comfortable and neat as a pin. Special thanks to Erik for bringing me and my husband on some truly magical dives. Crew put in a brilliant effort. The food was superb. Boat is excellent and well maintained. Only drawback was that the generator which had to run all day was very noisy at night. Some serious soundproofing is necessary. Would I go aboard again? Yes especially if they fixed the noise.

This was our first liveaboard experience, and I fear we have been completely spoiled. The staff was always on point in and out of water, a transition always accompanied by a warm towel, a beverage and fruit after each dive. Everything was organized like synchronized clockwork, and each beautifully presented meal was served in a sit down dining fashion that could be the envy of any high end restaurant. Our cabin bed comfortably rocked us to sleep each night, and the private bathroom kept us happily-refreshed by fresh warm water after the longer dives. We were lucky to be with a mature interesting group of professionals (perhaps a benefit of the higher price point), and we learned so much from everyone’s top-notch experience of life under the sea. We will definitely repeat with Lionel and Diverace again. Thank you for an incredible adventure!

Just an amazing experience on a liveaboard with DiveRACE. You can expect nothing more than newly renovated boat, tidy room, 5* service and good diving with experienced dive masters. What gives this liveaboard an extra is the crew that is super warm, friendly and helpful, but what is the absolute best is the food. It is just delicious, looks like from fine dining restaurant and there is plenty. I can recommend DiveRACE for more than 100%.

DiveRace is the perfect liveaboard getaway for those who want the luxury yachting experience but don’t want to break the bank. The vessel, refurbished in 2020, was clean and welcoming; the crew could not have been more friendly and accommodating; the food was above a five start restaurant; and, the diving was stunning.Although jammed packed with diving, there was plenty of time to relax and enjoy the time at sea. Each moment of the trip you felt as if you were the only guest aboard. It’s the perfect trip for avid divers who want to get as many dives in as possible.
